ELECTRICAL STIMULATION, ULTRASOUND AND OTHER PHYSICAL MODALITIES
Through this class, massage therapists will be able to identify:
• the principles related to specific properties of light, water, temperature, sound and electricity.
• acquire thorough knowledge of the effects of the deep physical agent which is to be utilized;
• develop the necessary skills to contribute to the evaluation of the client, and make sure that an appropriate selection of deep physical agents is utilized;
• develop the skill to explain the precautions, contraindications, and rationale of the specific deep physical agent utilized;
• develop the ability to properly document the parameters of intervention, including client’s response to treatment and recommendations for the progression of the intervention process;
• become capable of safely and appropriately administer the deep physical agent;
• discuss clinical applications of different modalities; and
• become familiar with the procedures and operation of the equipment.
THE INSTRUCTOR:
Dr. Bernie Burton is a holistic physician practicing chiropractic, acupuncture, active release technique, craniopathy, and nutrition in Sunrise, Florida. He has been a member of the National Referral Network for Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia for over 10 years and was a founding Board member for P.A.N.D.O.R.A. He has spoken at many FM/CFS support groups and presented at the F.A.C.E.T.S. 1st Annual “Living With Fibromyalgia Conference” in May 2002, on Alternative Methods of Pain Relief. He also presented at the Cleveland Clinic Spinal Symposium 2000 on the History of Manipulation. He graduated as Valedictorian from Life Chiropractic College in 1993 where he was also President of the International Chiropractic Honor Society. Prior to practicing healing arts he was a Materials Engineer graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1979.
